Travel Destination #3: Mt. Hood National Forest & Columbia River Gorge

Gresham is located right between the Mt. Hood National Forest and Columbia River Gorge. Both areas allow the community to enjoy great recreational activities such as: camping, hiking, biking, picnicking, and more! The forest extends south of the Columbia River Gorge, and is only twenty miles away from Gresham. It allows locals to have immediate access to the outdoors and enjoy the natural beauty both areas offer. You can check out more information on both areas here: http://fs.usda.gov/mthood & http://fs.usda.gov/columbia

In Historic Downtown Gresham (yes, that's the name of it), you can find a variety of locally owned shops, salons, and restaurants. There are over 150 shops here, and the streets are lines with both old architecture and neo-architectural new construction. During the year, you can find the annual Mt. Hood Jazz Festival, Gresham Art Walk, and Teddy Bear Parade. Every Saturday (May-October), you can also check out the local farmer's market. Many locals come here to enjoy the festivities, shop, and dine. To learn more about the events offered here, you can check: www.exploregresham.com.
